Claire founded Prospective Student-Athlete College Counseling after spending three years as the Assistant Women’s Golf Coach at Harvard University. During her coaching career at Harvard, she assisted the Director of Golf in the recruiting process for both the men’s and women’s golf teams. She has seen first-hand what it takes to succeed in the recruiting process and as a Division I student-athlete. She has also lived the experience as a student-athlete at Harvard.

Claire graduated from Harvard in 2010 with a degree in Psychology. She was a four-year member of the women’s golf team and captain during her senior year. Claire set records for the lowest score in Harvard Women’s Golf history and still holds the record for most tournament wins. She also helped the golf team win 21 tournaments during her four years. When she graduated, Claire received the Harvard’s Paget Prize, an award given to the senior student who contributed the most to Harvard women’s athletics.

In total, Claire has over ten years of experience in teaching and college athletics. Drawing on her own experience as a student-athlete, teacher, coach, and academic advisor, Claire is uniquely qualified to help prospective student-athletes navigate the college recruiting process and prepare for a life-changing experience as a student-athlete.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the course start and finish?
The course starts whenever you want it to! The course can be completed in as little one one day, and we recommend completing the course within a week.
How long do I have access to the course?
Once you buy the course, you will have access to all of the content (including the School & Scholarship Finder) indefinitely. You have unlimited access - across any and all devices you own.
How long does the course take to complete?
The course itself lasts a little less than 2 hours, however, to complete all of the assignments you'll want to spend about an hour in between each of the major sections. Plan on spending about 5 hours all in.
Will I really be ready to email coaches at the end of this course?
Yes! The purpose of this course is not only to share information about the recruiting process and what coaches want to see from you, but also to enable you to take action.
What if I have questions about my school list or my recruiting situation?
Reach out and let us know! We are always looking to improve the course and offer guidance in unique situations.
Who should take this course?
This course is designed for students (and their parents!) who are unsure about which schools to target, how and when to initiate contact with coaches, and/or what information they should share with coaches. Our goal is to demystify the college golf recruiting process so that you can feel confident that you are targeting the right schools and making a great first impression. This course is also for anyone who wants to know what to expect from the recruiting process, even if you aren't quite ready to start contacting coaches. Whether you are a senior who is late to recruiting, a junior in the thick of recruiting, or have yet to start recruiting, this course can provide great insight into the recruiting process.
When is the ideal time to contact college coaches?
For top level junior golfers (who are ranked in the top 100 in their graduating class), we recommend reaching out during your sophomore year. For everyone else, there are two ideal times to reach out: the end of sophomore year, and the beginning of junior year. All this said, you should consider re-introducing yourself to coaches or adding schools to your list throughout your junior year, as needed. If you haven't gotten the response you wanted from coaches, this course might be able to provide some insight! Maybe you are targeting the wrong schools, or maybe you aren't communicating effectively to catch a coach's attention.
What are the NCAA rules I should know about regarding contacting coaches?
There are NCAA rules that limit the amount of communication prospective-student athletes (PSAs) can have with college coaches. Division I and II coaches cannot send emails (other than to explain the rules) to PSAs until after June 15 following sophomore year. What this means is that if you email a coach before June 15 following your sophomore year, you should not expect a reply... at least not one with any substance. Coaches at DI and DII schools are also not allowed to talk on the phone with PSAs prior to June 15 or meet with PSAs prior to August 1. These restrictions do not apply to DIII schools. However, many DIII schools operate on a slower recruiting timeline, so there is no meaningful benefit to reaching out sooner.
What if I have already reached out to coaches? Can I still benefit from this course?
Absolutely. There are so many great pieces of advice and insights offered throughout the course that you are sure to learn a lot. It's true that you only get one chance to make a first impression, but it's never too late to re-introduce yourself if you haven't gotten a response or developed the rapport you want with certain schools.
